I first came to Rolfing back in 1989. I was athletic but was not particularly "feeling" in my body. I was looking for a deeper connection to myself and a friend suggested Rolfing. The whole process was exhilarating to me. I began to see my body change. I noticed that my hips were becoming freer, that my breathing was fuller in my chest, that my feet began to feel much better. It was around this time that I began a new direction in my life. I started two new practices - Aikido and meditation. The Aikido I continued for seven years and this started my fascination with movement and feeling. Meditation I have continued with today and I mention it with regards to Rolfing because before I was rolfed, I was unable to sit still.
Being profoundly moved and changed by the Rolfing experience, I decided to start my studies at the Rolf Institute in 1996. At the Institute I was fortunate enough to study with Jan Sultan and Jim Asher- two senior instructors there. Meeting them and others at the school continued to stir my passion for Rolfing. In 1998, I moved to New York City with my wife to start my practice. I continue to find the whole process of Rolfing both intimate and exciting. To help others find a deeper connection is very satisfying to me.
Recently, I have also become more interested in the connection between Rolfing and expression. Working with more and more actors` and dancers` in New York, I have become curious as to what blocks free expression and how Rolfing can be a tool to more organic modes of feeling and expressing.
